Big Dipper or Little Dipper?

So, tonight was one of those last minute supper meals (as most every night...why did I not take after my mother in the cooking skills?) and we had chicken nuggets.  Since Hudson has not been eating like he usually does, I was just hoping he would eat.  Boy did he ever!  He had chicken nuggets, raisins, about 2 "shries" - fries, and some "bapes" - grapes.  I decided to let him try some sweet and sour dipping sauce.  He loved it.  He saw me dipping my chicken and fries in it and he wanted to also.  In my efforts to try to let him feed himself and be a "big boy" I gave him the half empty sauce.  He dipped and dipped and licked and sucked his fries and fingers.  Mmmmm good!  When he couldn't get anymore out of it, he said "gone gone, Amy." and held out his hand like "please give me some more."  I didn't.  I thought he had had enough!  I let Zach clean him up, by the way.  OH..and the SHIRT...must I explain?  Ok, ok, he spit up/threw up (something) on his shirt at Aunt Kristi's today and well, when you stay in a house full of girls, this is what you get!  Wouldn't he make an adorable girl!?!?!

After supper, a while later, I decided I needed to "wii" and Hudson wanted to join right in.  He tried doing the push-ups and just basically wanted on the wii board so bad he couldn't stand it.  I guess I must have been making a grunting noise while I was doing push-ups, because he put his little hands on that wii board and grunted over and over as loud as he could.  If only pictures captured sound too!

Enjoy the pictures!

If you didn't read the post about this shirt, shame on you!  ha ha!
And NO, I'm not expecting :)

Ok!  So, I went overboard on the pictures!  Can you blame me?

Lord, please don't let Hudson be afraid of the baby chicks!

On Saturday, we had Easter pictures made by Heather Beck (Blue Eyes Fotography).  She had 3 baby chicks at the session.  I woke up early Saturday morning thinking about pictures.  I said a prayer for Hudson..."Lord, please don't let Hudson be afraid of the baby chicks."  I just wanted him to have some good Easter pictures so badly, selfish I know.  Knowing how he does with me trying to take his picture, I wasn't so sure this was going to work out: Mrs. Heather, baby chicks, new place, etc.  Well, the Lord answered my prayer.  He wasn't scared at all!  In fact, I didn't think the chicks were going to make it past 12:00 alive.  The baby chicks were only a few days old and they were so precious.  He wanted to pick them up by their necks or pet them so hard and rough.  I think, mainly HOPE, we got some good pictures, even though he wasn't smiling in hardly any of them.  Heather, Julie, Lexy, and I were acting like fools trying to get him to smile.  He looked at us as though we had lost our minds!  Oh, the things you do to get kids to smile for pictures, right?

This is not from the actual session, just one of the many that I tried to take!  Notice...I had to sit him on top of something just so he couldn't run and try to grab my camera!  Would you call this a 1/2 smile?  I'm not sure!

Other notes from the weekend...

At church Sunday, we had a children's program for Palm Sunday.  The kids practice on this program for several weeks.  One of the songs they sang was (even though you really won't know how it goes, you'll understand in a minute why I am writing this) "Ho Ho Ho Hosana, Ha Ha Halleujah, He He He Who saved me, I've got the joy of the Lord."  It is the sweetest thing.  Zach Held Hudson in the santuary so he could see all of his cousins sing, and believe it or not, Hudson picked right up on that song and started singing it.  Of course he waited until they finished.  He sang "ho ho ho ho, Lor" "he he he he he, Lor"...he sounded like a broken record, but it was the cutest thing.  I wonder if he's going to be shy like his mommy and daddy?  He even sang this song at Walmart that afternoon.  Now, tell me the Lord doesn't fill children's minds with praises for him!  I wish I had that on video, because one of these days I'll think "Did he really sing that song?"  Yes, Amy, he did.

It was so pretty outside Saturday so after pictures and after a nap, I took Hudson outside.  He begs everyday "Amy, I want door" and goes to the door to try to get out.  Well, keep trying Hudson, because for now, you're locked in (with those door knob safety thingys...I'm not sure what you call them).  Anyway, while outside, he helped daddy sweep the garage, rode on the "tractor" (lawn mower in this case) and helped me clean out my car.  Well, he actually didn't do much cleaning.  More like twisting, turning, and pulling every knob and button there is in my car.  I'll be so glad when we can go outside more often.  He's much more of a whiner indoors - what kid isn't?!

One more thing...I know these things aren't funny or as important to some people, but with the way  my mind works these days, I'll never remember half of the funny things Hudson does unless I write, or blog, about it.  Sunday afternoon, Hudson was running from room to room as usual.  We have had to buy the safety door knobs because he can open doors now.  We started with the door to outside and the bathroom doors.  I left the bathroom door open on accident, and Hudson came running into the den with two toothbrushes, one in each hand, saying "I want teeth, Amy...I want teeth!"  In Hudson talk, this means "I want to brush my teeth, Amy!"  Yes, he WILL NOT call me mommy...I've tried and tried, trust me.  Anyway, quickly, I grabbed the toothbrushes out of his hand!  They were my "cleaning brushes" he had gotten from under the sink.  Thankfully, he had not yet inserted them into his mouth...they were not wet.  There's no telling how many times those have been scrubbed with comet, etc.  I tried explain to him that those were mommy's cleaning brushes and that he could only use his toothbrush which is in the kitchen these days.  Do you think he understood?  No, why would I tell and 18 month old that a toothbrush is used for anything other than brushing teeth!!!  I mean, c'mon.  Note to self: "MAKE SURE YOU ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT, CLOSE THE BATHROOM DOOR!"

Where are your squeakers?

Tomorrow are Easter pictures...so we had to have new shoes.  I bought the "squeaker" shoes...mainly for the look, not the squeakers.  When I returned home, I tried them on Hudson's more than wide foot to make sure they would lace up.  I have to be very careful about the shoes I buy because of his extremely wide and thick foot. :)  Well, they fit!  Yay!  At first he didn't know what to think.  Finally, he discovered the "noise makers."  You know how that goes.  The more noise, the better, right?  He was walking around stomping  his foot to make more noise.  It really was funny!  I definitely knew where he was at all times.  He quickly learned "where are your squeakers?" and would point to them.  I know, the simplest things amaze me.   Then we had had enough, and we took them off!  Eventually, the squeakers will be removed and they will be quiet shoes, as they are supposed to be.  Pictures below, as always!

P.S.  I got to witness my niece, Delaney say "momma" for the first time, and twice at that!  She has the softest, sweetest voice, and it was definitely a "momma."

Sadness for Mommy, Frog Potty, New Words

I never meant for it to be this long, but it's a funny story anyway!  Enjoy!

This morning was the first day back to work after a short spring break.  I dropped Hudson off at Kristi's and he cried for me.  It broke my heart to have to leave him after being with him for a whole week at home.  As I walked down the hallway and headed toward the door, all I could hear was his pitiful cry and "Amy" "Amy" "Amy."  Yes, that's right...he has been calling me Amy.  Even though it wasn't the "mommy" that I love to hear, it still made me very sad.  Those are the moments that make me want to quit work and stay at home with my baby.  We all know that's not possible at this time.  As stated by my husband "None of us 'WANT' to work, but we HAVE to.  Yes, I know it's true.  When I got off of work, I headed straight to Kristi's to get Hduson.  He and I went straight home for some "togetherness" time.  He said many new sentences this afternoon.  What?  I'm gone for 7 hours and he learns 3+ new words.  That's crazy!  Some things he said this afternoon that amazed me: "I need water (with a very strong "r" sound)...yep, not "wa wa" but water.  He also said "I need poo poo" and "I need tee tee."  So, okay, I tried sitting him on the potty to give it a try.  I bet you can guess what happened next...nothing!  It was fun trying anyway.  I put his diaper back on and left his pants off.  After a few minutes, he came up to me and said "I cold, I need pants" and patted his leg.  It was the sweetest thing, just hearing my baby boy communicate that well.  He even went to my bedroom, where he knew I left his pants.  Later, we headed to Wal-Mart and all throughout the shopping trip, he never stopped talking, singing, making noises, etc.  He tickles me to death.  The funniest thing was when he started loudly saying "quack quack, duck...tweet, tweet, bird, bird..mmmmoooooooo, cow."  He changed his voices to make the animal sounds.  I just thought "how precious, that he is thinking of those animals and the sounds they make."  I was laughing, I'm sure looking very silly to others around me not knowing exactly what I was laughing at.  Oh well!  We also bought his first potty.  It was a green frog...it was so cute, and since Hudson loves frogs, we had to get it.  He wouldn't let it sit in the buggy for a while; he had to hold it.  So, here we go with a big frog potty in the front of the buggy with him down the aisle.  Oh, the things you do for your baby (that I used to would never think about doing).  Funny how babies change our lives so much, but in an awesome way.  The day ended with a "bass" (bath) in Mommy's big tub for Hudson.  He loves the big tub...I wonder why?!  Being a mommy rocks!!!

Yummy Bubblegum , Wrapper and All

Tonight we were sitting in the den watching American Idol.  Hudson was sitting in Zach's lap rather still and quiet.  We both just thought he was sleepy and just taking advantage of some "daddy time."  I turned to look at Hudson, and he had a mouth full of Super Bubble bubblegum, wrapper and all.  He was chewing on it like a pro.  At first I flipped out a little thinking he might try to swallow it and get choked.  Then I realized Hudson was just as calm as could be and really chewing it up.  It was so funny.  Zach and I laughed. Of course, I took the gum out of his mouth, and yes, Hudson cried and cried.  It was so funny to look at the gum all chewed up with wrapper in it.  I bet he had chewed on it for 5 minutes or so.  Now, I bet your wondering "where did he get the gum?"  Well, Zach doesn't chew just one piece at a time, he chews about 3 or 4.  So, he had laid some extra pieces on the stand beside his recliner.  Huddy Buddy snuck one from the stand.  I guess he wanted to be like his daddy, chewing gum and all!

Getting Started

Julie and I are trying to figure out this whole "blogging" thing.  This is my first blog ever!  The idea behind my blog is to have a page I can share with friends and family about my life as a wife and mom.  Hope you enjoy!
